Our Team
Joe Hickman
Joe is a lifetime resident of Kent County, still living on the farm where he was raised. He has maintained his farm management business for over 30 years and has been named as one of the Top 100 Farm Management businesses by Agri-Finance magazine since 1992.
As a Board member and past president of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Joe promotes sensible land use through his work on his family farm and also those that he manages for farm owners up and down the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Joe is also a Board member of Forever Maryland, an organization that was founded to promote and enhance land conservation statewide through education, advocacy, and outreach.
Not only supporting traditional farm practices, he also promotes soil health projects for carbon sequestration and habitat projects that promote water quality and support wildlife.
Joe and his wife Marianne have four adult children and four grandchildren who enjoy spending time together at “Black Horse Flag Farm” near Chestertown.

Community Collaboration
Working Together for Stronger Land Stewardship
We regularly collaborate with a network of respected nonprofits, conservation groups, and agricultural advocacy organizations across the region. While these are not formal partnerships, our shared goals often bring us together to address complex challenges related to land management, sustainability, and rural economic vitality. These relationships allow us to stay informed, contribute meaningfully to the agricultural community, and deliver more holistic solutions to our clients
